How To Get Your Work Accepted Faster

Hello everyone, your Co-Founder here, after going through several pages of submissions per day, I see the same problems time after time. People submitting to the wrong folders, now I am going to tell you why this is bad, why it slows down the process, and how to avoid it.

By not looking where you post your artwork, you are significantly decreasing your views per day, in the correct folder, people will browse around. Now if you are in the wrong folder, you are missing your audience, and will not get as many views, and you may miss out on the chance of a Daily Deviation referral.

When you submit to the wrong folder, your piece will be declined, then a friendly message will be sent to you about where it really needs to go. While this is fine and dandy for the first time, if it is repeated it looks bad and when we have upwards of 100 submissions per day, we may stop telling you where to put the art, and instead just leave you to your own devices. However, we are a  friendly group, therefore we try to steer our members in the right direction.

The crowning jewel, how to avoid getting your piece declined. It is fairly simple, I have even put the folders and their descriptions here in this journal for your viewing ease.

Featured
We do not accept deviations to the Featured folder. Once a month we choose who is going to be entered into this folder, we choose from deviations in their correct folder as well.

Traditional Art (1 and 2)
From painting, drawing, coloring, and so on. As long as you had to take a picture of it or scan it, it goes in this folder. This is what most deviations will fall under, however, please read all the descriptions in order to see what subsection applies more to you.

Digital Art
You made it on the computer? It goes here.

Photography
Family vacation, flowers in the garden, maybe your cat? All those photos go here.

Artistan Crafts
You made it by hand, it goes here. Includes jewelry, masks, clothing, polymer clay cuties, it will be much at home in this folder.

Cartoon And Comic
Multiple scenes in one picture? Action and speech bubbles? You heroes and villans belong in this folder. DO NOT CONFUSE WITH FANART! Fanart is its own folder, to be described later.

Writings
Requesting Rps, your poetry, short novels, even full length books, they all go here.

Fanart
One of the very least used folders due to not being understood. Fanart is when you draw something from a TV show, book, or anywhere else. If it has a name that you did not think of, it goes here simply said. Thor, Batman, Wix, The Butler, and so on belongs here.

Manga And Anime
Again, not to be confused with Fanart, this you need to have original concepts for otherwise it qualifies for Fanart.

Cosplay
All things Cosplay go here, photos, WIPS, and so on. Cosplay gets its own folder for all of this because you normally should see the piece progress so to have it split among many folders is not conducive to the whole process.

Animation
A very straightforward folder, if is saved as a.gif, it goes here. Nothing else.

DA Related
Generally, this folder is for Deviant IDs and things that just will not fit into any other folder. Do not use this folder like the junk drawer, however, it is low quality or implies bad judgement, it may be wise not to even upload the picture. Stay classy friends.

Designs And Interfaces
This is where your wallpapers, journal skins, fractals, and so on would go. Browse through the folder to see if it would fit here or in the digital art folder.

Doodles
The drawings you did in class, are on lined paper, and overall just concepts, they go here. This also includes drawings that say WIP.

Commisons
This folder is for those that got paid to do the work seen in this folder. If you are looking for someone to do something, these people are the ones to go to first.

Graffiti
Just for photos of artwork on buildings, trains, water towers, and so on. Most of the time, it is spray painted.

OCs
Persona for a RP? It goes here, nowhere else.

Mature Content
Does your artwork have a maturity filter? Yes? It goes here, otherwise it will be declined. We have all age groups here, please respect that.

Everything Else If you truly have no idea where to submit a piece, submit it here and we will tell you where it needs to go.

Body Art
Piercings, tattoo designs (must say in the description), dermals, and so on. It must be on skin to qualify for this. No masks, no clothing ideas, no this folder is for skin artwork.
